Brief Description Small Craft Advisory
Detailed Description * WHAT. For the Small Craft Advisory, southwest winds to 25 kt expected. For the Gale Warning, west winds to 40 kt and significant waves to 10 ft occasionally to 13 ft expected. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or greater expected, and may rapidly accumulate on vessels. * WHERE. Gary to Michigan City IN. * WHEN. For the Small Craft Advisory, from 2 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CST this evening. For the Gale Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Thursday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from midnight tonight to 10 AM CST Thursday. * IMPACTS. Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
