| Detailed Description |
11:32 AM PDT Sunday 24 September 2023 Wind Warning in effect for: North Vancouver Island Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. Significant fall storms tonight and Monday night. Where: Exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island and Central Coast - Coastal Section near Queen Charlotte Strait When: Tonight into Monday morning and Monday night into Tuesday morning Remarks: A strong front will arrive tonight bringing rain and strong winds. Winds will continue to rise over northern Vancouver Island. The strongest winds near 100 km/h gusting to 120, will be across the exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island and southern sections of the Central Coast, near Queen Charlotte Strait. A second frontal system will arrive on Monday with rain and wind speeds again approaching 90 km/h with gusts to 110 for the exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island and Central Coast - Coastal sections. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Utility outages may occur. Avoid wooded areas to prevent injury from falling trees or branches. Campers should move to sturdy shelters. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
