| Detailed Description |
At 333 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. The expected rainfall rate is 2.5 to 3.5 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall are moving down Dark Canyon towards Carlsbad. HAZARD. Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include. Carlsbad, Carlsbad North, Avalon, Cavern City Air Terminal, Living Desert State Park, Otis and Lake Avalon. This includes the following streams and drainages. Crooked Creek, Pecos River, Last Chance Canyon, Sheep Draw and Dark Canyon. |
