Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description Invest Area 95W is currently positioned near 11N137E. It is now the subject of a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert, which means there is a high likelihood of becoming a Tropical Depression. 95W is currently north of Yap and is expected to move northeastward in the general direction of the Marianas over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds of 20 knots will likely intensify over the next day or two, resulting in 95W being designated as a Tropical Depression. While 95W is already north of Yap and Palau, the monsoon-like trough will extend the wet and breezy pattern southward over them. Winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph, seas of 6 to 8 feet and 2 to 4 inches of rain can all be expected over the next few days. Residents and mariners should continue to monitor the latest forecasts for the region at weather.gov/gum/PublicForecasts and any information shared by either WSO Palau or WSO Yap for their local regions.
