| Detailed Description |
3:41 PM CDT Saturday 30 September 2023 Wind Warning in effect for: Chesterfield Inlet Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. An intense low pressure system over Southampton Island will give strong northwesterly winds to Chesterfield Inlet late Saturday into Sunday morning. Sustained winds of 70 km/h with gusts to 90 km/h or higher are forecast. Winds are forecast to be strong over the remainder of the Kivalliq on Saturday and Sunday as well with gusts to 80 km/h forecast. The winds will diminish later on Sunday as the low pressure system weakens as it moves over Baffin Island. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Utility outages may occur. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
