| Detailed Description | A monsoon surge is pushing through Yap and Palau, bringing widespread locally heavy showers, scattered thunderstorms, strong gusty winds and hazardous sea conditions into the end of the week. This surge is flowing into TS Bebinca, northwest of Guam. Ensemble model guidance shows the potential for an additional 6 to 8 inches of rain through Saturday across the region. Prolonged periods of heavy showers may result in localized flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas of Yap and Palau, and will increase the potential for mudslides in areas of steeper terrain in Palau. Hazardous marine and surf conditions will become prevalent over the coming days. Boaters should closely monitor marine forecasts before planning water activites. Residents across the Palau and Yap region should continue to monitor local weather forecasts the next several days from the National Weather Service in Guam, and for additional information from your local Weather Service Office and emergency management.
