| Detailed Description |
A cold low originating from Siberia will bring in a series of strong frontal-low pressure systems into the West Coast and Bering Strait beginning Tuesday. The first low Tuesday will mainly have impacts for Saint Lawrence Island with snow squalls and gale force wind gusts from the west. A stronger front moves in Tuesday night and Wednesday with heavy snow squalls and gale force west-southwest winds at times. As the low shifts south, gale force northerly winds gusting as high as 50 mph will bring heavy snow squalls and periodic near blizzard conditions to the Bering Strait and Saint Lawrence Island into the weekend. Snow amounts will range from 2 to 5 inches, heaviest for Saint Lawrence Island and the southern Seward Peninsula, from Tuesday through Thursday.
