Brief Description Special Weather Statement
Detailed Description A combination of snow, ice pellets, rain, and strong winds is expected. Locations: Red Bay to L'Anse-au-Clair. Total snow and ice pellet amounts: 5 to 15 cm, highest over elevated terrain. Total rainfall: near 5 mm, mainly along the coast. Maximum wind gusts: southwesterly 90 km/h. Time span: this evening until Sunday morning. Remarks: Conditions will deteriorate as snow and strong winds combine to produce areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility, before the precipitation mixes with ice pellets and eventually transitions to a mix of rain and snow as temperatures gradually rise. Patchy freezing may also occur during the changeover. Accumulating snow and ice may create slippery and hazardous travel or walking conditions. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
